13th July 2011

Popular film producer Nemichand Jhabak, who had produced movies like 'Anjathey' and 'Nan Avan Illai-2', on Monday filed a complaint with the Kodambakkam Police against Hansraj Saxena, the chief operating officer of Sun Pictures.

In his four-page complaint, Jhabak alleged that he had sold the film 'Mappillai' to Sun Pictures for Rs 17 crores and received the amount. However, he was threatened by Saxena later and was forced to pay back Rs 3.37 crores.

Based on Jhabak's complaint, Kodambakkam police registered a case against Saxena under Sections 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death), 420 (cheating), 406 (breach of trust) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Saxena was arrested on July 3 following a complaint filed by film distributor T S Selvaraj that he had not paid Rs 83 lakh that was due to him and intimated him. He was arrested at the Chennai airport by the KK Nagar police. Another case was filed against him later.
