(Cover) - EN Star Style - Lauren Conrads stylist says the stars new brunette locks are fun.

The attractive American television star has swapped her long blonde locks for dark brown ones, which she debuted at the CoverGirl 50th birthday party in West Hollywood this week.

The 24-year-old was getting bored of her lighter hair, and kept running out of ideas to modify it.

"It was just time to go for it," her hair stylist Kristin Ess told Usmagazine.com "We've done so many variations of blonde in the past and it's fun to do something new."

The colour change surprised many after Lauren has previously championed golden hair.

The actress used to rely on her lighter hair colour to feel more feminine and attractive.

"There is something so sexy about having long blonde hair," she previously said.

Apparently Kristin and Lauren sought inspiration from actresses Mila Kunis and Jessica Biel's styles, as they sport a stunning "Brazilian brown" shade. Laurens colour was achieved by first painting on a warm brown base and then adding highlights around the face and ends, and a golden gloss to add sleekness. (C) Cover Media
