We've listed the diet and fitness secrets of Bollywood's top ten babes � so you can choose from the one that fits you the best and make that change you've been longing for!! Here's to your health!!
1. Kareena Kapoor The effervescent and svelte Kareena Kapoor is the first name that comes to our minds when we think of superfit! Recently her 'size zero' fitness level was in the limelight, but contrary to popular belief, Kareena didn't starve herself to get there! She said it was a balance focused at 70 per cent on Diet and 30 per cent on exercise-training and yoga! Bebo eats well and eats right, with her meals planned according to her energy requirement during the day. She gives all the credit to power-yoga and a smart outlook towards weight loss.
When not at a shoot, Kareena's daily diet starts off with breakfast comprising muesli and milk or a chillah or parathas; no chai or coffee. Her lunch is a combination of dals, vegetables and proteins, depending on how hectic the oncoming schedule for the day would be. She ensures to eat every two hours. 2. Bipasha Basu Bollywood's diva, Bipasha says she owes her perfect body to a vigorous workout regime, which has resulted in her attaining that hourglass figure. The actress apparently doesn't follow a very stringent diet plan � she lays emphasis on working out instead. Even so, we managed to get our hands on her daily diet chart just for you!
Bipasha starts her day with a cup of tea and almonds soaked overnight and warm water. For breakfast she has six egg whites, mushroom and toast with porridge, skimmed milk and fruits. She takes a fruit, usually an apple, as a mid-morning snack. Her lunch comprises green vegetables, dal, grilled chicken or fish, green salad, two soya chapattis and strictly no rice. For her evening snack, she has tea with a few digestive biscuits. Dinner comprises dal, salad, three vegetables cooked in olive oil, grilled fish or chicken with a miniscule portion of dessert.
3. Katrina Kaif Katrina Kaif, tagged as Asia's sexiest woman, has lately been turning heads with her killer figure which she has acquired for her role of an item girl in director Farah Khan's film `Tees Maar Khan`. Can you believe it took Katrina less than three weeks to get this figure? According to Kat, for any kind of fitness training, the mind and body needs to be co-ordinated.
As per her regime, Kat follows a very stringent daily work-out schedule and takes adequate rest for rejuvenation. She is known to be a huge fan of the purifying Apricot Oil from Anne Semoin and lots of water. Though Kat is not a follower of a regular diet schedule, she is dead-against junk food like pakodas and pizzas. She munches on fish-based Chinese and Japanese delicacies.
4. Priyanka Chopra Another anti-junk food Bollywood beauty is the bubbly and beautiful Priyanka Chopra. She says that keeping off junk food and working out regularly helped her go the extra mile on the treadmill, adding to her reserves of stamina.
Though Piggy Chops ain't a gym freak, she works out for an hour, a few times a week, to keep her body toned � with the main idea of keeping fit and healthy and not shrinking! Priyanka feels that the trend to keep losing sizes is unhealthy and when people attempt to attain these figures without proper guidance, it could prove harmful in the long run. She finds yoga relaxing and energising and is a great way of keeping not just the body but even the mind healthy.
Priyanka does not follow a regular diet routine but focuses on a few important points which help her stay fit. She avoids oily food and watches out for those deadly carbs! Her daily diet consists of regular food like chapati, vegetables, soups, salads, rice, dal and lots of fruits. She consumes a lot of juices and water, taking in at least ten glasses of water daily. She indulges her taste-buds over weekends with chocolates, cakes and tandooris.
5. Sonam Kapoor From fat to fit, the stunning Sonam Kapoor has indeed come a long way. She believes in regular exercise to stay fit and flexible and recommends a combination of stretch exercises, along with cardiovascular and some strength training. An important part of the exercise for Sonam is a lot of deep breathing exercises, and the need to breathe right.
She feels it is an absolute must to consume generous amounts of water, green tea, fruits and vegetables. It's important to not starve yourself and eat healthy. Here are a few tips from the star: - Avoid red meat and trans-fats (found in cakes and biscuits). Instead of biscuits, switch to a healthier snack like soya chaklis or peanuts. - Avoid white processed foods like sugar, salt, white bread and white rice. - Supplement your diet with a good amount of proteins like soya, chicken, eggs, fish, paneer and tofu. - Stay well hydrated by consuming lots of water, green tea and a variety of vegetable juices. - Never sleep on a full stomach. Dinner should be had at least two to three hours prior to your bedtime. Oily and heavy dishes are taboo at night. - Get the necessary right hours of sleep. That helps your body regenerate cells. If your body is rested, it will work better towards staying healthy. - Go for massages when you can. They help relax your stressed muscles. A deep tissue massage can do wonders to refresh and uplift you.
6. Deepika Padukone One of Bollywood's fittest and sportiest actresses, Deepika Padukone's dedication shows in the way she looks. Deepika insists that to maintain your health or reach any health related goals, it is imperative to combine exercise and diet � just one does not help you to either lose weight or remain healthy. And more than all else, it is important to think healthy and have a positive mind set.
Deepika exercises as often as possible, dances and does Yoga.
She eats healthy, preferring home-cooked food and avoids rice and meats at night. She consumes a lot of vegetables.
Her diet schedule comprises a good breakfast � a meal she never misses. This could include upma, idlis, dosa, parathas or even non-vegetarian fare at times! Breakfast is her heaviest meal. In keeping with a focus on having a balanced meal, her lunch comprises two rotis, vegetable, dal, rice and a salad. For dinner she avoids rice and non vegetarian.
Her poison is Thai food and chocolate desserts, which she binges on occasionally!
7. Malaika Arora Khan Malaika Arora Khan - wife, mother and Bollywood diva � just like her life, balances her diet and health regime perfectly.
An absolute no-no for Malaika is binge-eating and fried food. She also dances to keep fit. Malaika works out in the gym at least thrice a week.
Malaika's effective diet chart comprises staring the day with a glass of warm water with honey and lime, followed with a litre of warm water. She has a small bowl of seasonal fruit and either idli, poha, upma or porridge for breakfast. For her mid-morning meal, she has a glass of vegetable juice with amla along with egg whites and a couple of brown-bread toasts. Lunch includes brown or red Goa rice, 2- 3 vegetables, Chicken or fish and One bowl of sprouts as salad. For the evening snack she either has a peanut butter sandwich or one of the above mentioned mid-morning snacks. Dinner is had, latest by 8:00 pm and consists of soups, salads and a light meal but no dals (lentils). Post dinner hunger pangs are answered by any seasonal fruits or carrots or dry fruits like figs, almonds and apricots.
For those who wish to seek the perfect figure like Malaika's here are some tips from the fitness queen herself: - Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper - No carbohydrates at night - Never starve � eat healthy and eat everything, but in moderation. - Avoid fried foods. Have a diet for the week and go easy on Sundays - Cook everything in extra virgin olive oil - If you like potatoes, always consume them in their jackets � roasted.
8. Shilpa Shetty This stunning siren claims that the secret behind her fabulous curves is a balanced diet plan and working out thrice a week. The leggy beauty does not avoid any kind of food, with ghee being a major part of her everyday meals! She prefers taking multi-grain rotis and maintains a regular non-vegetarian diet as this helps sustain her body strength.
Shilpa's breakfast consists of a bowl of porridge and tea, followed by a work-out (three-four times a week), after which she has a protein shake, two dates and eight black raisins. Lunch comprises one roti with ghee (butter), vegetables cooked in refined oil, chicken and dal. When her sweet tooth beckons, she indulges in a kulfi or a piece of chocolate. She consumes green tea late afternoon and has a lot of hot water through the day. In the evenings, she has flavoured soya milk, followed by a cup of tea and an omelette sandwich as an evening snack, if she's hungry. Dinner comprises a lettuce salad with a pomegranate or an apple. She avoids rotis in the night.
9. Celina Jaitley The gorgeous , petite Celina Jaitley believes that breakfast is a must . She eats small meals throughout the day and does not keep a calorie count. Celina believes the magic lies in eating right and she swears by green tea � consuming 7-8 cups of green tea daily, with a lot of fruits.
Celina has seven mini meals every day, at two-three hour intervals. Breakfast is an absolute must and she consumes a lot of fruits and nuts.
10. Rani Mukherjee Rani Mukherjee believes in hard work and it is just that which has helped tone her body. Her work-out routine includes exercising alternate days with yoga and weight training with a lot of floor and freehand exercises.
Her diet is balanced, comprising 45% carbohydrates, 40% protein and 15% fats and does not allow any sugar, white flour (maida) or sweets, and just one tablespoon of oil in a day! Her strict diet schedule includes starting the day with a glass of aloe vera juice, followed by a shot of karela juice and half a banana before going to the gym. Her breakfast comprises egg whites with muesli and a glass of juice. Lunch is 1 roti, boiled vegetables and salad with the same repeated for dinner. Her snacks include soups and green tea.
