Our movie is an ode to 'Khoobsurat', says Sonam

16th September 2014

Joining the ever growing list of remakes Sonam Kapoor's upcoming film 'Khoobsurat' which is a remake of a retro hit that originally starred Rekha in lead, is all set to release this week.

Ahead of the anticipated release, Sonam confesses that her film is an ode to the classic original. She also states why they chose this film.

"Our film is an ode to the original. Today's films lack the beauty of a Hrishida movie. They were fairytales, simple yet commercial but never fluff. We are hoping to bring back a genre which strikes a balance between a good story, romance and humour," she said.

When asked if she fears that there will be comparisons with Rekha, the actress adds that after spending 7 years in the industry she has got used to it. "I am Anil Kapoor's daughter and since I've entered the industry, I've been compared to someone or the other. Rekhaji is close to our family, she loves Rhea and me. She was the first to see Aisha and she will be the first to see Khoobsurat. I can't better what she has done, but then ours is a different interpretation," she concluded on a positive note.

Starring Sonam Kapoor in the lead role, the film marks the debut of Pakistani Superstar Fawad Afzal Khan in Bollywood.
