December 28, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Julie Plec, the producer of the supernatural television series The Vampire Diaries has revealed in a statement to the media that a very dark future awaits the characters in the horror television sitcom. The Vampire Diaries has taken a break from action this month, but Julie Plec says that the wait is worth it for the audience because The Vampire Diaries will return in the new year with a lot of changes and hence a lot of excitement.
The last episode that went on air this month revealed the fact that werewolves can pose a danger to vampires, in fact a werewolf bite can also cause a vampires death. Julie Plec says in her statement to the media that the werewolf episode will reach its culmination as The Vampire Diaries begins airing again next month, and along with the end of one chapter, The Vampire Diaries will also bring with it several changes that lead the characters into a very unpleasant future. Julie Plec reveals that the new episodes which will hit screens from the 27th of January will concentrate on the witches rather than the werewolves. Great emphasis will also be given on the curse and the subsequent sacrifice which may lead to Elenas death.
