Producers’ Council election date announced

6th September 2011

Elections to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC), one of the influential bodies of Kollywood, will be held in Chennai on October 9th. An announcement in this regard has been made by advocates S Chandrakumar and V Parthiban, who are the election officers of the TFPC.

In a statement, the council said that its members had urged the council to have the elections conducted at the earliest as there were several important issues that were pending before the powerful body.

The release stated that those interested in contesting the elections to the various positions of the TFPC, could obtain the nomination forms on September 19th and 20th. Nominees can file their nominations between September 23rd and September 27th. Nominations will be scrutinized after 6 pm on September 27th. Nominations can be withdrawn between September 28th and 30th.

Earlier on Saturday, the general body meeting of the Tamil Film Producers Council was cancelled following a notice served by the Thousand Lights police to the council which cited lack of space as reason for not allowing the meeting.

The general body meeting was convened by president in-charge S.A. Chandrasekharan to be held at South Indian Film Chamber theatre on Sunday. But following a complaint filed by actor Babu Ganesh about the lack of space inside the theatre, the police had denied permission to hold the meeting there.
