The Chennai city police have picked up two aides of Sun Pictures' CEO Hansraj Saxena, in connection with the cheating case filed by a film distributor. Saxena's personal assistant Thambidurai and Ayyappan, a film producer, were grilled for a couple of hours and let off with a directive to appear before the police whenever summoned. Saxena was also questioned on Wednesday.
According to reports, Ayyappan had floated a film production unit but acted as the right-hand man of Saxena, in striking deals and getting money. KK Nagar police had on Sunday arrested Saxena on charges of cheating and criminal intimidation based on the complaint filed by film distributor T S Selvaraj of Salem.
Selvaraj complained that Saxena threatened him when he approached Sun Pictures asking him to return Rs 82.53 lakh that he had paid for distribution rights of Vishal-starrer Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai. Selvaraj had reportedly said in his complaint that he was confined at Sun Pictures office in Mandaiveli for more than two hours. He was threatened and intimidated by Ayyappan and Thambidurai.
