Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Bandra sea-facing giant bungalow 'Mannat' has been one of the most famous hotspots of Mumbai, courtesy it being the residency of India's one of the most loved star. But at the same time it has been equally controversial as well.
Shah Rukh's house has a couple of legal cases running over it. While it has the case of illegal extension of property, it also had a complaint on it in regards to the change of name. Before SRK bought and named it as 'Mannat', it was called 'Villa Vienna'. But later when it was renamed, social activist Santosh Daundkar complained about the name change.
Accordingly, the name change is a violation of the Development Control Rule (DCR) 67(2) where the name change of heritage properties is not allowed.
But the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee official confirmed that the name change was approved by an earlier committee in 2006. Hence, they decided to uphold the former decision.
