(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Kings Speech director Tom Hooper shot Colin Firth with a kind eye.
British filmmaker Tom is thrilled with the final cut of the movie, which tells the story of Britains King George VIs struggle to overcome a speech impediment as the country is on the cusp of World War Two.
Tom became great pals with actor Colin, who plays the royal, and Geoffrey Rush, who portrays the kings speech therapist, during shooting. He explained Colin and Geoffrey also struck up a close friendship, and thinks his admiration for them both is obvious thanks to the favourable way he shot the film.
Colin and Geoffrey are friends for life, whether we work together again or not, Tom told British newspaper The Telegraph. That doesnt happen often. I shot both men with a kind eye. For me, theres something in the film that shows a growing fondness.
The 38-year-old director recommends people go to watch the film, which authentically depicts the struggles of people suffering with a speech impediment.
When making the movie, Tom was conscious that he didnt want it to have an unrealistic ending.
I felt wary of making a film about a miracle cure. For most people [who stammer], its not about a cure; its about living with it, he said. (C) Cover Media
