Writer Nasreen Munni Kabir took two years to convince Indian film diva Waheeda Rehman to let her publish a book on her life.
After she was convinced, it took almost a year to compile the great story of this veteran actress.
The book based on Waheeda Rehman's life was all set to be released this week but she called off the launch at the last minute after hearing about the sad demise of her close friend and Bollywood actress Nanda.
Nasreen Munni Kabir confessed that the news of her death had broken Rehman to the core.
"She was in a flood of tears after learning that her best friend Nanda had succumbed to a heart attack. She told me that I'd have to cancel the launch because she couldn't dress up and face the camera. It would be hypocritical," the writer said.
Written by Kabir and published by Penguin, the book was highly awaited. But Rehman is currently not ready to move on with the launch and has postponed the release as she has stated that she at least needs a couple of months to get over the great loss.
"We suggested a release sometime next week but Waheedaji needs more time. It was a friendship of almost 50 years. That generation is dropping off one by one. And 50 years of cinema history is disappearing with them," Kabir added.
Incidentally, the book also has several instances that prove how Waheeda Rehman and Nanda were the best of friends.
