(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan O'Neal's son Redmond has been arrested on narcotics charges.

The 26-year-old, whose mother is the late Farrah Fawcett, was pulled over by police today after he allegedly ran a red light.

RadarOnline are reporting that Ryan's car was inspected thereafter by authorities who allegedly found heroin in the vehicle.

A police spokesperson told the site that a motor officer observed an argument between O'Neal and another person in Santa Monica, California, this morning.

"The officer observed [Redmond] going through the red turn arrow," the spokesperson said. "The officer stopped him for the traffic violation. A search of his vehicle was done and narcotics were recovered."

Redmond has just under a year left before finishing a court-ordered treatment program that he is obligated to attend due to drug-related offences.

He was shackled during his final visit with his mother before she died in 2009 and allowed to leave jail to speak at the former Charlie's Angel's funeral.

"This is very serious," a source told the site. "Redmond sadly is a drug addict he desperately needs help and treatment, not prison." (C) Cover Media
