One of India's finest music stars, Lata Mangeshkar rarely communicates with the media and when she does, it does make it to the headlines. 

And that has been the case yet again, as the singer recently stated that Millenium's biggest star Amitabh Bachchan too deserves to get a Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Recently, Writer-director Gulzar was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Lata confessed that she is way too happy for him. And now that her dear colleague Gulzar won it, she wants her friend Amitabh Bachchan to be awarded with the similar honor too. 

"Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) deserves it. Unko milna hi chahiye (He should get it). It's the right time for him to be given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award", said Lata. 

This is not the first time that she has urged for a prestigious award for Big B. 

In 2011, she had stated that Big B should get the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award too.
