Loot comes to rob your peace of mind...

-By Priyanka Ketkar

It has become so common for Bollywood movies to be "inspired" from their Hollywood counterparts that I fear soon it will become a practice to make only "inspired" films. Even if you are making a near-remake of any film then why not add some of your own creativity and ideas. Loot which means ‘to rob', actually does that to a Hollywood film. The film is a frame-by-frame rip-off of the Hollywood flick Crime Spree (2003) with not a single scene added or subtracted from its screenplay. So you might think then the movie must be funny... wrong! The movie doesn't even offer less than half entertainment like the original flick.

The movie is about four small-time robbers sent to Pattaya on a big assignment. Govinda and Javed Jafferi only speak in coded gibberish. Mahaakshay Chakraborthy's stereotype Christian character insists on uttering 'hey man' in every line he speaks in the film. (Producer) Suniel Shetty takes a backseat, subtly hinting the group that he has sponsored the Thailand vacation and they have to run the extra mile. The quartet accidentally ends up robbing the wrong guy Lala (Mahesh Manjrekar), who happens to be a local don. Now he is out to get them and so are a bunch of some other guys. Haven't we seen enough of all this before and that too in a much better way...?

Debutant director Rajnish Thakur has managed to successfully ruin the original movie. Alongwith the cast being "mis-cast", i.e. Suniel Shetty who is supposed to be the new coming-man and Govinda to be the latest action hero, there is role reversal to such an extent that Mika Singh has dropped his singing and turned to acting. Songs, the editing and locations, all are horrible. What is even worst is that Pattaya which is originally not so shabby; surely the next time this crew steps in that place to shoot, they will be denied the permission to shoot.

Don't go is the only advice. Why torture yourself knowingly? Right...?
