Prakash Jha combats controversy

15th July 2011

Prakash Jha, the cult director, who is ready with yet another socio-centric film 'Aarakshan', is refusing to bow down to the controversies. The film is based on the corollary of the reservation policy and the commercialization of education that dampens the society. It was this critical take on the schedule castes that raised alarms for Prakash Jha.

Recently the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) demanded a special screening of the film to confirm that it is apt for release. But Prakash refused to show the film to anyone except the Censor Board for verification. Prakash added that the law in the nation doesn't require him to show the film to any monitoring body except 'Censor' for their sanction to release it for public and hence he will not oblige to NCSC's demands.

Now NCSC has asked Censor Board to direct Prakash to hold a special screening for them. It remains to be seen how and when the Censor reacts to this critical situation.

The film has enough time to attain a certificate as it releases next month on 12th August 2011.
