(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Courteney Cox has spoken out for the first time about her split with husband David Arquette, saying the actor is a kook.
The pair, who met on the set of the first Scream film in 1996, announced last month they have decided to spend some time apart after 11 years of marriage. The pair have agreed they can see other people and David has been outspoken about the separation. He has been interviewed twice by radio DJ Howard Stern and revealed Courteney suggested the split after becoming tired of mothering him. He also said they had stopped having sex months ago and confessed he had cried after he slept with another woman.
David has apologised for his outspoken comments, but Courteney insists she wasnt surprised or upset by his behaviour.
"[David] is a kook. It's not shocking and Howard Stern, he loves him, and I'm a fan of Howard Stern, she said in an interview with TV Week. David is an entertainer and I'm sure the people who listen to the radio are entertained by his stories."
Courteney who has a six-year-old daughter, Coco, with David admits the couple decided to take a break after realising they had grown apart. However, she has denied they are planning to make the separation permanent and she is glad they have decided to face up to their marital problems.
"I don't know what will happen, but this is not like we're getting divorced," Courteney added. "This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage Whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us."
The 46-year-old actress went on to pay tribute to her close friend Jennifer Aniston. Courteney says her former Friends co-star has been a great support to her while she has been dealing with problems in her personal life.
"It's funny, a lot of really close friends are kind of going through this right now or like Jennifer [who] has gone through it, she explained. I don't know what's going on in the planets or what, but things are being shaken up and I don't know what's going to happen, but, yeah, Jennifer has been amazing for sure."
Meanwhile, 39-year-old David insists he has been staying positive and making the best of the difficult situation. You gotta laugh and have a good time with itno matter what the f**ks going on, he said. (C) Cover Media
