(Cover) - EN Showbiz - David Arquette has confessed he suspected his wife Courteney Cox Arquette was having an affair.
The Hollywood couple announced they were having a trial separation in October after 11 years of marriage. Soon after the split was made public, David gave a series of bizarre interviews where he discussed his sex life with Courteney and was seen partying with other women. The 39-year-old entered rehab in January for alcohol and depression issues and has since said he feels like a changed person.
Around the time of the split it was alleged Courteney was romantically involved with another man and David has now revealed he feared the rumours were true.
"I was angry with... the dynamic of our relationship. I was angry with my wife. There were tabloid stories coming out about her and someone on her show having, you know, an affair, he said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, before adding Courteney spoke to him about the adultery rumours. "I thought she was having an affair with someone. Nobody would've said something like that if she weren't."
David now accepts Courteney was faithful throughout their marriage, but admits he felt she had abandoned him. To celebrate their eleventh wedding anniversary in June last year the actress splashed out on a motorcycle for David, before telling him she didnt want to have to mother him anymore.
"She came down really depressed one day, and was like, 'I'm really just not happy, David explained. And when she started talking about separation I felt... on the inside of our rings it says 'A Deals A Deal'. I felt really sort of abandoned at that point like she'd broken the deal."
Their marriage was also under strain because David always felt his wife had enjoyed a more successful career than him. Courteney shot to fame in US sitcom Friends and the show was such a hit the cast went on to earn $1 million per episode. After Friends ended, the 46-year-old actress starred in television shows Dirt and Cougar Town. David admits he was often jealous of Courteneys career.
"She was on this incredibly successful show, so she made more money than me," he added. "I was sort of always in her shadow. And I'd held all this bitterness."
David has been seeking therapy for his issues with Courteney and says he is still in love with her. He hopes they can still save their relationship and whatever happens, he is determined to remain on good terms for the sake of their six-year-old daughter Coco.
"I love Courteney. I don't know right now, he replied, when asked if they will reunite. I want us to be the best people we can be, and then if it's together - I want her to be happy, and if me even being the best person I can be doesn't make her happy in a partner - like, who she needs, whatever she's looking for - that's still to be answered.
"I know that I'll be with her for my whole life. And we have an amazing family together and we're really great parents together." (C) Cover Media
