(Cover) - EN Showbiz - A David Beckham fan has revealed she was "shocked" by the news that her idol delivered to her.

British teenager McAyla Johnson flew into Los Angeles last week with her family under the assumption that she had won a television competition. In reality McAyla, 14, had been given the Pride of Britain Teenager of Courage Award.

On a special tour around Los Angeles Galaxy football team's stadium, David's club, McAyla was surprised to see her icon burst into the room to deliver the good news.

"When I saw David I was so shocked I didn't know what to say," McAyla explained to British newspaper The Daily Mirror.

"I couldn't believe he knew my name. He hugged me and smelled really nice."

Against the prognosis of several medical professionals, McAyla began to walk and talk again following a serious car accident. She then successfully campaigned to get cross walks on the street where she was hit.

David told McAyla how notable her actions were telling her "what you've achieved is really great".

McAyla was deeply touched by David's statement.

"When he said I'd won a Pride of Britain Award I was so proud," McAyla said.

"He told me I've been very brave but I said I just wanted to make sure what happened to me doesn't happen to others."

McAyla will never forget her meeting with David.

"He gave me a signed shirt and I told him I'll never wash it. It was the best day of my life," she added. (C) Cover Media
