14th May 2012

At the time when the news of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor's death was announced to the world, the one star who most prominently expressed his grief over the loss was Shahid Kapoor

Shahid has time and again exclaimed that he is a great follower of Shammiji's style and will always be in awe for the person that he was.

Shahid along with Ranbir Kapoor paid homage to Shammi Kapoor at an award function a few months back. And now, Shahid has taken his love for Shammi Kapoor on screen through his film 'Teri Meri Kahaani' where they have enacted an iconic dance scene in the film to mark the style of the veteran.

"For the track set in the 60's, Director Kunal Kohli gave me a video compilation of his films and songs to pick up nuances. Through this track, we are paying homage to the Elvis Presley of India," said Shahid on paying homage to Shammi Kapoor.

He further added what the Indian Elvis Presley meant to him and his million of fans, "I have grown up watching Shammi sir's films, and have always admired him. I especially loved him in Teesri Manzil (1966) and Kashmir Ki Kali (1964). Shammi is a style icon for a lot of youngsters even today," added Shahid who is more than happy to imitate his favorite star in his film.
